PsychPhys has made the difficult decision to wind down and discontinue delivering services under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
Please Note:
PsychPhys will close its operations effective Wednesday 12 November 2025.
This is something PsychPhys has worked hard to avoid, because it knows the impact this will have on clients who PsychPhys staff and the company have cared for and built strong relationships with over its 7 years of operations.
PsychPhys is working closely with relevant support coordinators, family and guardians to transition existing clients to alternative service providers and is committed to ensuring duty of care remains at the forefront. PsychPhys is working with its clients directly to make the transition as safe and with as less disruption as possible.
Flawed NDIS funding model and Chaotic NDIA
A recent internal review confirmed a significant financial loss for the organisation making it untenable for PsychPhys to continue to offer NDIS Primary Health care services.
Despite many alternative approaches being explored and implemented over a long period, PsychPhys haven’t been able to reduce substantial losses that have continued to accrue over that time. This reflects directly on the NDIS funding model and associated challenges in NDIS service claiming under the NDIA.
PsychPhys believes the NDIS funding model is not sustainable or realistic for community health care agencies and organisations. Ensuring qualified professionals are suitably compensated; Superannuation, Payroll Tax; ATO taxes, WorkCover, operational expenses such as NDIS Audit, NDIS BSP Registrations, internal audits, clinical registrations, recruitment, professional development/training, operational management, team meetings, company reporting, clinical supervision; property leases/outgoings, Insurance, fit outs, academic tools, service equipment etc etc are unfunded because they happen outside of face-to-face services. PsychPhys services are conducted ethically and with a client-first approach, and despite its best efforts, PsychPhys can’t make the funding model; and associated NDIA manual/claims processes work.
Under its Quick Response Frameworks, and ethical standards, PsychPhys simply can’t provide clients with the quality of services needed without knowing if and when services will be paid. This isn’t about making a profit, or breaking even, not receiving payments for lengthy periods of time; and sustained losses eventually impact on a company’s financial security. It’s been a difficult decision, but it just isn’t tenable for PsychPhys to continue working with the NDIS.
PsychPhys Supports Funding Model Review
PsychPhys strongly encourages a thorough review of the current NDIS funding model and the NDIA SOPs. It is suggested that consideration is given to the operational realities of community health service delivery; and the substantial quality and value add that small to medium community health organisations offer to its communities, however, cannot sustain in the current environment.
PsychPhys thanks its clients, their families and its community collaborations for their support and commitment to its vision:
