What is Exercise Physiology?

Accredited Exercise Physiologists implement research-based exercise intervention strategies to treat, manage and prevent chronic health conditions.

The PsychPhys™ EP team works closely with our Psychology team in order to ensure our unique combined approach to traditional programs. Our EP programs and services are a fun way for our clients to focus on their physical health and learn how to use exercise-based strategies to cope with their difficulties in a safe and healthy way.

Our EP team is equipped with the skills and knowledge to design, implement and assess safe and effective clinical exercise and lifestyle interventions.

Seeing an Exercise Physiologist can be useful for the following reasons:

  • Managing symptoms and difficulties associated with chronic conditions such as cardiovascular diseases, pulmonary diseases, metabolic diseases, neurological diseases, and musculoskeletal disease (including arthritis, osteoporosis/osteopenia, acute and/or chronic musculoskeletal injuries).
  • Managing symptoms and difficulties associated with neurodevelopmental conditions (including Autism and ADHD) and mental health conditions (Including depression, anxiety, personality disorders and/or schizophrenia).
  • Learn healthy coping strategies through the use of positive endorphins.
  • Learn and maintain social skills.
  • Feel a sense of belonging through fun and supported programs and services.

Exercise Physiology services are offered independently or as part of multiple PsychPhys™ programs.
